What is acai?
While it may be hard to pronounce, acai (ah-sah-EE) is a delicious grapelike berry harvested from acai palm trees found in South America – particularly Brazil. It’s a tropical fruit and an exotic relative of the cranberry and blueberry. We dare you to try eating just one!
What are the health benefits?
Acai is a superfood – packed full of vitamins, antioxidants, fiber and heart-healthy fat. One berry holds 10 times the amount of antioxidants as grapes and two times the amount of antioxidants as blueberries.
What goes in an acai bowl?
Our acai bowls are made using the finest ingredients. Since the berry itself originates from South America, we use Sambazon’s acai pure as our base. Hand harvested directly from the Amazon, Sambazon flash freezes the pure pulp to keep the super antioxidants and healthy omegas stable. Depending on your bowl, we blend our organic acai with bananas, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple, spinach or avocado along with a touch of filtered water, to create the perfect consistency. Top it off with nuts, fruit, granola and/or other crunchy bites and you have the most delicious acai bowl!
Do You Use the Sweetened or Unsweetened Acai?
Unsweetened. In the U.S., you can purchase acai in the form of juices, powders, and (our favorite) frozen purees. Some forms contain added sugars and others are too watered down to achieve optimal benefits. Thus, frozen 100% acai purees are the purest form of the fruit, and the kind we use in all our bowls. We're proud to use Sambazon's organic pure unsweetened frozen acai.
What is Pitaya?
Nutrient-rich pitaya is more commonly known as dragon fruit. While strikingly beautiful, the benefits of eating this tropical superfood are plentiful. It is a good source of antioxidants, boosts immune system, is high in fiber and more! #getyourpinkon
Is your menu vegetarian or vegan friendly?
Our menu is mostly vegan, entirely vegetarian. Ask a team member for any specific dietary and/or allergy concerns. We will be happy to help you create your own!
